A colourful crowd of chickens, quietly arranged in rows, brings back memories of the market in Kolomyia, where I often went as a child. The market was always full of movement — people selling all kinds of things, animals, conversations, and plenty of noise. And, of course, there were chickens and chicks. They were sold at the market, calling out from their cages and adding their own sounds to the whole scene. In this painting, the chickens and chicks become a little market of their own — colourful, expressive, and each with its own personality.
