This work continues my exploration of group compositions, in which multiple birds coexist within a shared space. The flock is made up of different breeds, colours, and forms — some calm, some more expressive — all brought together into a single rhythm.
Painted in watercolour and ink, the image balances soft colour with more defined, graphic lines. Working at this scale allows for broader movement and a more physical approach to building the composition.
The work draws from memory, but moves beyond it. While rooted in familiar rural imagery, the chickens become more varied and slightly exaggerated — shaped as much by imagination as by observation.
What interests me here is not only the individual figures, but how they relate to each other — how repetition, variation, and proximity create a sense of movement and quiet energy across the surface.
