On the Fence
12 × 4 in (30.5 × 10.2 cm)
Original watercolour and ink on paper.
A row of chickens, each completely absorbed in its own little world. One looks over another, one peers down, another looks up. Some face forward, some turn their backs, and one balances on a single leg. Each has found its own way to occupy the same narrow rail. I love the variety of these little poses — a simple fence suddenly becomes a stage for an entire cast of characters. This original watercolour painting is a playful piece of chicken art for anyone who enjoys birds, animals, and characterful contemporary artwork.
