This tapestry began as a watercolour sketch painted in early spring, when snow still lingered but nature was awakening from winter. It was during this season that cranes return from distant lands, sometimes perishing in harsh conditions, underscoring their deep connection to their native land.
Using layered textile techniques, I captured the delicate nuances—the mood, atmosphere, and subtle rhythms of nature. Part of the project Parallels, this work explores connections between Ukrainian and Canadian cultures, landscapes, and traditions. The tapestry is both a meditation on place and a reflection of the enduring bond between people and their homeland.
