A group of chickens moves across a snow-covered field, interrupted only by a line of winter shrubs in the background. Painted in watercolour and ink, the work balances loose, fluid marks with finely observed details, allowing each bird to retain its own presence within the flock.
Part of my ongoing practice exploring memory, Snowfield Chickens revisits familiar rural landscapes through recollection rather than direct observation. The painting reflects how remembered places continue to exist in the imagination, shifting over time while remaining recognizably present.
